Christmas Memories
When I was a child, Christmas was soo exciting! *S* We'd start putting up decorations the day after Thanksgiving. Outside lights on the house, a little styrofoam ball and toothpick Christmas tree with little multi-colored balls that Mama made. The big Christmas tree was never put up until 2 weeks before Christmas. It was a major thing for Daddy to take us "Christmas Tree hunting". It never failed, the prettiest tree we picked out was wayyy too big! *G* Daddy would cut and cut limbs off and the trunk of the tree off. He always had to patch holes with the limbs he cut off. We'd finally get it where it satisfied Mom, lol, then pull out all the decorations and decorate it so carefully, then plugging in the lights to see our "masterpiece"! *S* Then came the long wait for ole Santa Claus. rofl! One of my most fond memories of Christmas was when Mom let me put the little styrofoam balls and toothpick tree she made, in my bedroom. I woke up around 1 am to find a present under it and started screaming! Daddy came running to see what was wrong and I was crying saying "Santa was in my room!" LOL! I was so frightened, Daddy had to lay down and hold me til I fell back to sleep. I was 10 years old and we were sooo protected. When I was 13, the lady that kept us after school asked me if I knew who Santa Claus was. I said yes. He comes every year and brings us all presents! She said well, Santa is your Mom and Dad. I cried and told her NO HE WAS NOT! Mom came home to me crying and asked what was wrong..I told her and boy, did that babysitter catch it! I asked Mama "What she told me ain't true is it Mama?" Mama said no honey, it sure isn't! *G* I found out the truth when I was 14. A friend told me. *S* Doesn't matter tho...to this day, I still believe in Santa Claus! Now that I'm grown, the tradition of decorating the day after Thanksgiving goes on, tho the tree isn't a real tree anymore, it still goes up 2 weeks before Christmas...sometimes earlier....and it's 2 weeks or more of having to re-decorate it cause the kitties love to knock off ornaments! *G* Christmas Eve, I still can't sleep...anxious as I was as a child to find out what Santa brings! :0)
On the next page, you'll find pictures of Christmas' past and there will be pictures from this Christmas. There will also be gifts for you to snag...so come on in and look around. You never know what you'll find! *G*
Wishing you all a Very Merry Christmas and remember "Jesus is the Reason for the Season". God Bless you all! *hugs 'n love* Lady Brat Judy aka Juju
